We welcome students from age 6 and up, including teens and adults. Each new dancer is placed at the right level after a short trial and assessment.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. Your first class is a free trial so you and your dancer can experience our teaching before enrolling. Use the form above to book.
I’m an adult beginner — is that okay?
Absolutely. We offer classes tailored for adults beginning fresh or returning to the art, at a welcoming pace.
What should we wear to the first class?
Comfortable clothing you can move in is perfectly fine for a trial. We’ll guide you on traditional practice attire once you join.
What is the national dance honors program?
Providing our selective students recognition for artistic merit, leadership, and academics that can strengthen college applications. Ask us for details. Our students who show readiness, commitment, and interest will be guided towards dance honors, including broader performance, festival, or competition opportunities where appropriate. Our priority is always artistic growth, cultural grounding, and confidence—not comparison.
Will my child get to perform?
Yes. Students perform in our annual showcases and recitals, with opportunities at community and cultural events as they progress. Performing builds confidence, stage presence, and pride in the art.
What is an arangetram and what’s your approach?
An arangetram is a dancer’s formal solo debut — a milestone marking years of dedicated training. Advanced students work toward this celebrated stage with their guru’s guidance when they’re ready. Shri School of Dance offers structured Bharatanatyam training in Charlotte — helping students grow from beginner foundations to confident performance, cultural connection, and long-term artistic milestones such as Arangetram.
How are classes structured?
We teach in clear levels — Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced — progressing through footwork, expression, rhythm, and storytelling. Dancers advance as they grow, at a pace that respects each student’s journey.
How often are classes, and where?
Classes run weekly at our Charlotte studio. We’ll share current schedules and timings when you book your free trial so you can find the right fit.
Can I practice between classes?
Yes. You’ll get access to practice videos developed by your teacher — not generic tutorials — shared with our students – Private Youtube video links, so you can rehearse footwork, rhythm, and expression at home anytime.
Do you offer workshops or masterclasses?
Yes. Alongside regular classes, we host interactive workshops and masterclasses — from introductory sessions to deeper explorations of Bharatanatyam’s technique and tradition.
Can the school perform at our event?
Absolutely. We offer Bharatanatyam performances for community, cultural, and corporate events. Reach out through the form above to discuss your occasion.
